An authority in the goth and synthwave world, Sharlese’s encyclopedic knowledge of music and dedication to community building has cemented herself as one of the west coast’s most fascinating and sought after DJs. Sharlese has been in a clearly inspired place after 21 years of work in the Seattle scene, now finally she’s been breaking through: this year alone she’s had breakout sets at The Great Beyond, Nowadays Nonstop, WRECKED, Substance, IFM in the Netherlands and on top of that has released critically acclaimed mixes for pi pi pi and KIHDI podcasts. By day, Sharlese works at the legendary radio station KEXP as a DJ and producer of The Afternoon Show, Expansions, and Mechanical Breakdown as well as the station’s Programming Education Manager where she works closely with youth who are breaking into the radio industry. Sharlese is also a resident of Seattle underground collective, secondnature additionally she serves as a member of the international collective Black Techno Matters.
