DeForrest Brown, Jr. is an Alabama-raised, Ex-American rhythmanalyst, writer, and musician. His written work explores the links between the Black experience in industrialized labor systems and Black innovation in electronic music, and has appeared in Artforum, Triple Canopy, NPR, CTM Festival, Mixmag, among many others. Assembling a Black Counter Culture is Brown’s debut book
What does liberation mean to you?
Liberation for me means not just imagining, but already living in a future that isn’t indebted to the fictive and failing socio-economic “progress” imagined within the frames of techno-utopianism.
