Bio

Auntie Chanel is a DJ, event coordinator, emerging graphic designer and co-founder of Femmedom residing in Detroit, Michigan. As a Black femme, her voice and cultural work has been instrumental in the restructure happening within the queer dance scene and businesses alike within the city. She has curated and collaborated on numerous events that uplift, empower and provide alternative economy for BIPOC, trans womxn, and queer people. Past examples are her monthly residency at Deluxx Fluxx and affiliations with Party Store Productions, Bops, Babe House and FemFarm. As a commander of the dance floor, her mixing selections are a blend of left field and uptempo house, femme centric rap ballads, vogue battle beats, hard techno, darkwave, and ghetto tech.

What does liberation mean to you?

To me, liberation is creative freedom, accessible resources, communal support and healing.
