DJ Drink Water - Black Techno Matters Radio

Hello everyone, I go by DJ Drink Water, and I am of Black and Salvadoran heritage.

I’ve been DJing on-and-off since 2019, and I honestly don’t know what to share about myself other than my intentions and motivations when it comes to DJing.

True to my name, I believe that DJs should be like water; to be able to play at any venue at any time, for whatever situation they find themselves in, whatever the limitations may be (so long as the space they play in is doing right by their attendees). I’m not interested in “house” DJs, “ambient” DJs or “radio” DJs, I’m interested in selectors with ranges long enough to hug the Earth, and of those who are ultimately in service of creating an immersive, spellbinding and physically-healing experience, via dance music or otherwise.

Every track, in all its hyper-specificity, is a tool for a DJ to use, a part of their rhythmic collage with magical properties that allow us to create new songs in the present moment. Split-second intuitions bringing forth “it was meant to be” combinations; it’s the art and science of recorded sound and Black history intertwined.

These are my selections, my fusions, and embarrassingly, my attempts 😅. I hope you enjoy : )
