B_X_R_N_X_R_D - THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF BEARPUS & OCTOBEAR

THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF BEARPUS & OCTOBEAR, by Black Techno Matters founder, producer, and DJ, @b_x_r_n_x_r_d comes out Dec 13!

With this immersive 20-track 4-hour love album, B_X_R_N_X_R_D brings an inviting curiosity that blends real-life experiences, memories, and musings with fantasy and interstellar travel between Earth and the planet Neptune. The adventures of Bernard (Octobear) and his husband (Bearpus) begin in the real world, inspired by actual events that took place in 2024 that then blur into “p0rtals” to Neptune. B_X_R_N_X_R_D deftly merges his signature breaks, crushed drums, and 808s with the Terra–an otherworldly but meditative-sounding instrument that relies on heat signatures from the fingers to produce sounds.

THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF BEARPUS & OCTOBEAR features profound themes broken up into an introduction, five chapters, and a conclusion. The “Introduction” eases listeners into the ambient nature of the album. “The Neptune P0rtal” follows, bringing in rhythmic elements fit for dancing and movement. “The Wedding Spot” returns to a more mellow vibe, encouraging listeners to engage with their surroundings and the people around them; in contrast, “Who Called the Park Police” brings us back to Earth where B_X_R_N_X_R_D starkly reflects on disruptions in sacred, community spaces. “The Waterfalls of Asheville,” acts as a balm, offering a more encouraging outlook on life. We return to Neptune for “Love in a Post Technological Singularity World,” where we are invited to pose questions for the ever-changing world around us. Finally, the “Conclusion” brings the album for “comedown,” encouragement, and an opportunity to contemplate a challenging year for many.

THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF BEARPUS & OCTOBEAR benefits from its powerful, non-linear storytelling throughout the album, allowing listeners to take in its varying messages and reflections in their own ways. In quintessential B_X_R_N_X_R_D fashion, this 4-hour journey shows that conventions are meant to be questioned and thoughtfully broken.
